Club Policy and general principles. Our intentions as a Working Equitation Club with strong foundation for Classical dressage principles and respect for our horses are summarised in the "WEYV welcome new member letter" below. Display a red ribbon on your horse’s tail if she/he is prone to kicking.
Display a green ribbon on your horse’s tail if she/he is young or anxious or inexperienced in terms of riding in close proximity to other horses.
Stallions at rallies or events:HRCAV policy requires that stallion ID kits (from HRCAV) must be used at all times during Club rallies and the horse must not be moved around the venue without a bit.Stallions must be securely double tied or kept in a float, horse truck, stable or steel yard when not being ridden to ensure safety for all.
Wear a regulation ASA approved helmet when mounted at all times.
Regulation smooth-soled, and heeled riding boots must be worn (runners or work boots are unacceptable).
Be aware of the safety of other riders at all times and maintain safe distances, pass in a courteous and safe manner and in the direction prescribed by HRCAV.
Be aware of and show consideration to members who may not be confident and/or have inexperienced horses.
Park safely – keep a distance of approximately 9m between your vehicle/float and others.
Pass vehicles, pedestrians or mounted persons at a safe pace.
Where possible ride or lunge in an enclosed area away from parked vehicles.
Ensure horses are tied up safely and securely with a halter. Never tie a horse with the reins of a bitted bridle.
Never tie a horse up to float that is not attached to car.
Make sure the emergency contact details the Club has on file for you are current.
Report a fall or incident immediately to a member of the Committee and complete an HRCAV Incident Report form.
